The other day I heard something on the radio that cocked my ears. A soundbyte was playing of George Bush. Yah, so what, every time that guy opens his mouth something strange pokes out. But this time it was a bit different...
Actual Quote from George W. Bush, speaking to congress regarding the "lack of funding" for the Iraq war: "Members of Congress should not make Political Statements!" Yes, He really did say that.
Full Quote: "Members of Congress need to stop making political statements, start providing vital funds for our troops and get a bill to my desk that I can sign into law," Bush said. "If Congress fails to pass a bill to fund our troops on the front lines, the American people will know who to hold responsible."
He goes on to talk about how they should take care of farmers by lowering taxes, but instead beats up everyone who doesn't want to fund the war against terror AKA raise taxes or print more greenbacks (the money has to come from somewhere). It turns out that the spat is all about Peanuts and subsidies for farmers, who seem to take priority above the multi trillion dollar "war on terror" AKA lets steal all the money and run to Mars.
"I like peanuts as much as the next guy," President Bush said today, "but I believe the security of our troops should come before the security of our peanut crop.''
And with these unlikely words, delivered in his weekly radio address, the president spelled out some of his complaints about the $100-billion-plus war-spending bills that the House and Senate have approved which are laden with "special-interest'' projects such as $75 million for peanut farmers -- not to mention the timelines for withdrawals of American military forces from Iraq that the president vows to veto.
